The primary goal of the TRANSFORM programs (TRaining And Nurturing Scientists FOr Research that is Multidisciplinary) is to recruit, train, support and nurture the next generation of clinical and translational (C/T) investigators in multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary team-oriented environments. The training and career development activities that comprise TRANSFORM will produce C/T scientists familiar with interdisciplinary team structures, comfortable with leadership roles, trained to integrate research from other disciplines and methodologies and, finally, prepared to direct the next generation of multi- and interdisciplinary research. These activities fall into four major categories:

Short-term Training |
- KL2 The Mentored Career Development Award for Clinical/Translational Investigators, open to Assistant Professors (clinical- or tenure-track). Applications for 2012: Phase I due November 1, 2011
- TL1 The Clinical/Translational Certificate Program for pre-doctoral (PhD or DrPH) students.
- MS/POR The Master of Science training program in Patient Oriented Research methodologies for post-doctoral fellows and junior faculty.
- R25 PRIDE Comparative Effectiveness Research Award.
- Short-term Training Short-term training opportunities, lecture series and career development initiatives in clinical and translational science.

KL2
Mentored Career Development Program
This program combines didactic training, significant mentoring, exposure to interdisciplinary research and on-going evaluation to prepare young
investigators for careers in clinical and translational research.
- 2 years of support (with a possibility of extension) including 75% of salary and funds to put towards travel, supplies and tuition
- Applicants must have a professorial appointment at the time of the award (tenure- or clinical-track)
- Applicants must be able to devote a minimum of 2 years towards the KL2 training program
- Two-part application process begins November 1st for July 1st award date
TL1
Clinical or Translational Education Certificate Program
- 1-year program including courses and an individually-designed practicum
- Recipients may not accept funding from another NIH source while in the TL1 program
MS/POR
Master of Science Patient Oriented Research
A broadly based didactic program offering training in the fundamentals of interdisciplinary clinical and translational research to fellows and junior faculty.
- 2-year, 30-credit program
- Open to MD, DDS, DMD, DO, DC, ND or DNSc holders, and PhDs involved in clinical research
- Applicants must be able to commit to 2 years of study
- Full scholarships offered each year to most highly qualified applicants
- Applications due in early January; classes begin as early as July
R25 PRIDE
Comparative Effectiveness Research Award
- 14-month program includes two summer training institutes and mentoring support
- Applicants must be a junior faculty member (Assistant Professor or Instructor) by the award start date

In support of the TRANSFORM goal of encouraging the next generation of clinical and translational investigators, the CTSA sponsors a variety of several educational and general interest seminars. These activities fall into the following categories:
