MedGenomics : Management of varied biomedical research data for clinical, genetic, medical and epidemiology studies
It is a highly secure web-based database management system. The application is targeted at biomedical researchers who have a need to collect and analyze disparate data-types including but not limited to CLINICAL, GENETIC, epidemiological and population-structures. Password-protected access allows users to enter, edit, view and download data for analysis from any internet connected computer. The system has extensive data-validation and data-encryption features with regular data back-up facility.
Some of the salient features of MedGenomis software are:
- Secure Web Application: which is accessed from standard web-browsers and provides a fine-grained access-controls upon login. For example, only recruiters can access the recruitment functionality for their trials, and clinicians can access the clinical data management cores.
- Intutive Web Interface:All data can be entered, viewed, and edited online. At users’ request, data can be stored as text or indexes (for checkboxes, radio-buttons, and selection web-items) or as logical AND/OR sums. Validations are performed for presence/absence of data, data-types, and data-range. Errors are displayed to the end-users and data is accepted only when all requirements are met.
- Data Encryption Standards: : In-built data encryption functions can be used to encrypt/decrypt any data. We employ standard data encryption functions using RSA, Blowfish, DES and Triple-DES.
- Data Accessibility :View and Download data directly from the Web in the format desired for analysis.
- Statistical Analysis:The software offers routine Statistical Analysis capabilities including Standard Deviation and Nominal P-value calculations, Association Analysis, Cochran Armitage Trend test, Chi-square test and Student’s T-test. Results are charted.
- Genetic Analysis: Genetic Linkage Analysis software includes Genehunter, Liped, Allegro and Fbat. User selections trigger data extraction, formatting, validation (Mendelian Inheritance check) and invocation of analysis. All results are displayed on the Web.
- Multi-tiered Architecture:: All software are developed using JEE technologies. We deploy applications on a family of LINUX/Windows servers. Data are stored in a collection of DBMSs including Oracle, MS-SQL, Ingres and MySQL. All data are backed-up. All servers and backups are managed by us.
