Dr. Olajide Williams: Driving Community Health at Irving

At Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC), community engagement is more than an initiative - it’s a mission led by dedicated visionaries like Dr. Olajide Williams, Vice Dean for Community Health and Professor of Neurology. As a longtime leader in community-driven health efforts, Dr. Williams previously co-directed Irving Institute’s Center for Community Engagement and Research (CECR) Resource, plays a pivotal role in shaping programs that bring medical expertise directly to the people who need it most.

One such initiative is Seniors AIM High, a collaboration between The Armory Foundation and CUIMC launched in 2022. The program encourages local residents over 60 to stay active through weekly exercise sessions while creating informal opportunities to promote preventive care. It exemplifies the kind of partnerships Dr. Williams has championed - ones that translate medical innovation into meaningful, accessible community impact.
