Ying Kuen “Ken” Cheung, PhD
“The Personalized Medicine Pilot Award allowed me to assemble a group of clinical researchers who would become long-term collaborators,” he says Dr. Cheung. The research program enjoyed continued success through extramural funding and publications in high-impact journals, including the Journal of Clinical Oncology and the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association.
Cheung also credits the Trial Innovation Network (TIN) at the Irving Institute with providing him with valuable opportunities and connections. “My involvement in TIN allowed me to interact with other investigators at CUIMC and created collaboration opportunities, especially in the area of adaptive clinical trials,” he explains. Cheung’s research was also supported by a Collaborative and Multidisciplinary Pilot Research (CaMPR) Pilot Award.
He plans to continue his research and collaborations along the lines of adaptive trial designs and big data analytics, especially for digital health. Cheung sees the Irving Institute as an important driver for his work.
“My involvement in the Irving Institute has afforded me the opportunities to meet clinical researchers at CUIMC. As collaboration is key to advances in biomedical science and translational research, these programs remove the barriers of research silos.”
